Mark Making
For this Illustration, I wanted to work a bit on drawing a close up both organic and city settings, so for my sketch, I pretty much only laid out the chunks of land and where Chao would be standing. I used less blending and stronger brush strokes for this landscape because stylistically, it was what felt right. I ended up doing most of my rendering on the same layer which I usually try to avoid.
Idea
The idea of this illustration is meant to represent the feeling of chasing after the idea of "getting better" or to put it simply, taking the initiative in getting help. Sometimes this isn't fully voluntary, but this illustration is meant to show when it is. It's about seeking recovery, independence, and self-direction.
Materials
I started this illustration in Clip Studio Paint in order to take advantage of the character 3D models. After sketching it in CSP, I saved the file at full resolution and moved it to Procreate where I fully went about my digital painting and rendering process. I used a mix of default and custom brushes. One of the settings I used was the gradient maps Procreate provides.
Wrapping up my SI
This was the last illustration I finished, so getting it done was a final stretch to the finish line. Upon finishing it, I was able to look at my whole SI in context, seeing what it all looked like together, and was able to decide on some details that I wasn't able to before. An example of this is being able to re-order the illustrations how I wanted them.
